New Orleans, LA

The Hotel

After taking over the old and worn-out Harrah’s Casino - which is located at the intersection of Canal and Poydras streets - Ceasars Hotel and Casino New Orleans gives you nearly 800 brand new rooms and a completely refurbished casino floor.

The Room

The rooms in the newly built Ceasars tower start at 400 sq ft and comes with floor to ceilings windows that help give the rooms a bright and airy atmosphere.  The neutral tones, light woods and the frieze above the bed give the rooms a luxury aesthetic. The bathrooms are small but mighty mainly because of the stone walk-in shower.

The  VVagal  Experience

I really didn’t want to stay here because all I think about are the subpar hotels Ceasars own in Las Vegas. However, I was forced by my wife because she wanted easy access to the casino which turned out to be not so easy (more on that later). If you drive into New Orleans, you’ll find out the Ceasar’s hotel has two towers the old Harrah’s tower and the new Ceasars tower. If you self-park the parking garage is connected to the Harrah’s tower so you’ll have to take an elevator to Harah’s and walk through a tunnel that connects the two towers. My advice would be to valet park! After the trek to the Ceasars tower you’ll notice that everything is brand spanking new, even the front desk staff, which means you’ll need to be patient as the employees are being polished.  Besides the pristine rooms, there was nothing extraordinary or out of the ordinary to report. However, since the entrance to the hotel is on the outside of the casino floor you have to show your identification every time you enter the casino ( this became very annoying). Also, there were vending machines on the floor that our room was on. After seeing this I couldn’t help but ask myself are they trying to be a luxury hotel or not?

Was it worth the splurge? If you can deal with the annoyance of pulling out your driver’s license with every move you make, at $250 per night, I would say yes. Time will tell if the answer will remain the same.
