Fontainbleu

Las Vegas, NV

The Hotel

It took 23 years and 3.7 billion dollars, but the Fontainebleau Las Vegas finally opened in mid-December of 2023 on the north end of the strip and we couldn’t wait. Our stay was in April of 2024 so it would be considered still in its infancy stages of being open. It’s a beautiful hotel with bowtie imprints everywhere.

The Room

We stayed in the luxurious royal suite which contains a living room, bar and two full baths. The master bathroom also has a soaking tub. The room is modern with USB ports and floor to ceiling windows in the bedroom and living room. There are touch controls to open and close the drapes next to the bed. Just like the public spaces, the room consists of neutral tones to provide a calming atmosphere after a day of roaming the strip.

The  VVagal  Experience

We arrived at check-in around 2:30 pm. The staff were courteous and kind. There was a minor issue with my E-Standby upgrade. We initially booked a Gold strip view room with an opportunity to upgrade to a platinum room for an extra $6 dollars per night. I was told that there were not any platinum rooms available but after the front desk agent made three or four phone calls, I was offered a royal suite for $100 more a night. It wasn’t the upgrade or price I expected but I took it. But wait there’s more! We received our room keys, grabbed our luggage and went to the room. After a short elevator ride and what some would call a long trek down the hall, we made it to our room, opened the door and it was a basic room. Back to the check-in we go. The agent apologized and gave us a $50 food and beverage credit. Back to the ROOM, after an even shorter elevator ride to the 56th floor we take a short walk to our room, press the key against the lock and it doesn’t work. My wife gave hers a try thinking it was only my key and it didn’t work either. Back to the CHECK-IN desk I go. This time, I went to a different agent and she gave me two new keys, and I went back to the room (for the third or fourth time) put the key against the lock and voila’, it worked. Was the room worth the three trips down to the front desk? If it was a free upgrade…probably, but since I was paying for the upgrade, I think I should’ve received more than a $50 food and beverage credit. Other than that snafu, our stay was enjoyable.

Was it worth the splurge? Yes, but be warned, the restaurants we tried were average at best.
