The Venetian

Las Vegas, NV

The Hotel

Opened in 1999, the Italian themed Venetian resort and casino has over 7000 all-suite rooms (think junior suites) including its sister property the Palazzo. The Venetian/Palazzo is located on the north end of the strip next to the Wynn/Encore resorts.

The Room

Entry level rooms start at 650 square feet. They are divided into a sleeping area and sunken living room with couch, coffee table, desk and 46-inch television. It also comes equipped with an empty mini fridge for your use and a dining table with chairs. The bathrooms are large with a soaking tub and shower.

The  VVagal  Experience

I heard nothing but good things about this hotel, so I wanted to stay here for a while. We finally got a chance to see what all the fuss is about. We booked a newly remodeled room, and they’re in the more secluded south tower. When we arrived, the check-in line was long, but they have hotel staff giving you water and snacks while you wait. We received our room keys and headed to our room and unbeknown to us - it’s a hike. You must get on two elevators, plus the trek to your room. Also, there was a grateful dead concert that weekend, so the elevators were always crowded (my pet peeve). Keep in mind, crowded elevators are something you don’t have to deal with as much staying at a Wynn/Encore Tower Suite, Four Seasons etc. When I finally made it to our room I was impressed, the rooms are spotless and spacious. A couple of things I didn’t like: Our room was facing another Venetian tower which didn’t allow for a lot of natural light to permeate the room and upon closer inspection other than USB ports, there is no tech, so you had to get out the bed to close the curtains and turn off the lights or do it before you got into the bed which was still inconvenient.

Was it worth the splurge? Yes, but next time we’ll book a different tower to avoid the long walk and dark room.
